PPC Bully 2.0 just launched yesterday, and I decided check it out and give it a quick review before it sells out. The price is $1497 for one year, which is kind of crazy, but since it comes with a 30 day return policy, it gives me a chance to try it out and see if it is a worthwhile investment.

I talked about using a PPC ad spy tool like Traffic Travis in my previous post, but what makes PPC Bully 2 so compelling is that you get instant results. It’s a great way to find opportunities for direct linking ppc campaigns, and with a little more digging, you can find good landing pages to emulate as well. PPC Bully also includes some nice filtering capabilities so you can drill down and find the more profitable ads. The tool calculates this using a metric called Profitability Indicator (PI). PI is calculated like this:

PI = (Number of days ad seen * Percentage ad seen) / Number of days ad last seen

I’ve been playing around with the tool for a couple of hours now, so let me give you a quick PPC Bully tutorial and demonstrate some of the cool things you can do with it.

Searching by CPA network

Every CPA network has at least one tracking url that affiliates can use to direct link to offers. Some affiliate networks like NeverblueAds actually have several tracking urls. With PPC Bully 2, you can do a destination url search with the CPA network tracking url and the tool will return you a list of affiliates who are direct linking to offers on that network.

Here is a test I did using Azoogle’s tracking url http://x.azjmp.com. PPC Bully returned me 7,462 ad results. To find the profitable ads, I filtered out results with a PI score of less than 49 and I got back a more manageable 146 ads to work with. There are hundreds of CPA Networks to work with, so you can see how powerful this technique is.

Searching By Product

I think PPC Bully 2 has been especially geared for working with Clickbank products. To do this, you can use the display url search and type in the product name. To test this, I logged into my Clickbank account and did a search for some high gravity products. The one I picked was a product called RegistryEasy which had a gravity over 200.

For this query, PPC Bully returned to me 6666 results. Nice! That is a ton of direct linking ads. I then filtered results with a PI > 35 and a search volume > 2000/mo and got back 176 profitable ads. With the number of affiliate products available, there is a lot of potential here.

Searching By Tracking string

If you have been reading my posts, you know that one of my favorite tracking scripts is Prosper202. By knowing how Prosper202 tracking urls work, I can use PPC Bully 2 to find direct linking affiliates that are using this script. This is great, because you know that affiliates who are using some form of tracking are probably more likely to be successful.

For this test, I did a destination url search for the string tracking202/redirect/dl.php Wow! 13,161 results. Using the same filter (PI > 35 and search volume > 2000) gives me just 12 profitable ads to look at. Very cool indeed.

PPC Bully Negatives

The PPC Bully database is adding new ads and keywords everyday, but I did notice it was lacking data for certain queries. Meaning that certain ads looked like they only started being scanned less than a week ago. The second annoyance is that there were certain queries I tried that returned too many results. When that happens, you just get an error message and nothing gets returned. It seems like this could be remedied by allowing you to filter on your initial query.

Final thoughts

I know most people will be turned off by the $1497 yearly price for PPC Bully 2. That is a lot of money to put down for any tool. If you are new to PPC Coach or pay per click marketing in general, you can definitely live without it. For those that are doing well with PPC and can afford the price, PPC Bully 2 is definitely worth a shot. Especially with the 30 day money back guarantee. I hope my quick review gives you some good ideas on how to use the tool.
